:5 things you should know before you book your flight to the Maldives:

1] In season times you have direct flights to the Maldives from main Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru. You may get good connections on Srilankan airlines via Colombo. But before you select any flight be sure to check arrival time at Male airport. Ideally, your flight should land in the morning hours so that you can get further connections to your resort - either by speedboat or seaplane or domestic flight easily. 

2] Please note most of the speedboat transfers are possible only during the daytime. Seaplane transfers are very rare after 3 pm and domestic flights also generally do not operate after sunset. Thus if you arrive late afternoon at Male airport, chances are very high that you shall miss seaplane or domestic flight as you need at least a gap of 2-3 hrs.

3] If you are getting cheaper flight options but arrival time in Male is late afternoon, then staying overnight at Male or Huluhulu Male could be a better option. You need to calculate your saving in airfare by deducting Male hotel cost. Even though your saving is not great, still go with this option as its a safe bet. If you are staying overnight at Male then getting a morning transfer is much easier and you can arrive at your resort well in time and you shall be fresh and ready to enjoy your resort. You shall get almost a day to utilize your resort [ as you know per day cost is so high in the Maldives resorts]   

4] While selecting return flight, avoid early morning flights from Male. It is very difficult or many times impossible to reach Male airport before 10 am. Also why anyone would like to leave heaven like a resort so early in the morning? 

5] Please note Domestic flight or seaplane timings are confirmed 24 hrs prior to your flight date. Therefore we do not have any control over the time of departure from the resort. Many times you need to leave very early from the resort and wait at Male airport for your further flight. But this is totally beyond our control. 

5] Most important point is the selection of resort depending upon the duration of stay. If you are staying only for 3 nights avoid selecting a resort which is far away and can only be reached by seaplane or domestic flight. This will waste your arrival day and departure day both. Selecting a resort with a seaplane or domestic flight transfer is recommended when you have more than 4 nights in your hand. 

Thus, selecting a proper flight with good arrival and departure timings are very important or stay 1 night in Male before or after the resort stay to be on the safe side.
